The Drs. Edgar and Imelda Cortes Scholarship in Medicine – The Cortes Scholarship was established by Dr. Cortes and his wife, Imelda. Dr. Cortes was given a full scholarship to attend UTMB, inspiring him to give back to his alma mater. Each year, the Cortes Scholarship will be awarded to three talented students who exemplify medicine’s highest ideals. Students who can demonstrate financial need will be given preference.
