Panhandle Area UTMB Scholarship in Medicine

Panhandle Area UTMB Scholarship in Medicine – Funds distributed shall be used to provide scholarships to students who have been accepted for admission to the freshman class of the School of Medicine at UTMB and who are residents of the 26-county Panhandle Area in Texas. Priority will be given to the student or students with the greatest financial need. Scholarships may be a full or partial tuition payment for the entire course of study leading to a medical degree. The amount of tuition shall depend on the level of student need and the availability of endowment distributions. If in any year no qualifying first year students apply for the scholarship, second through fourth year School of Medicine students who otherwise qualify may apply for the scholarship. Students selected to receive this scholarship shall receive a letter explaining the background of this endowment and encouraging them to contribute to the endowment once established in their practice, but no student will be required to sign a non-binding pledge agreement.
